An interesting study finds that in split-second decisions, referees are more likely to favor athletes in red (over blue).  So, even without the home-field advantage, should we expect China to clean up at the Games this summer?

Wow, the odds of catching this must be ridiculously tiny.  Nevertheless, how sweet is this??

A planet-wide survey of some 30,000,000 instant messages (via Microsoft) sent by 240,000,000 people have confirmed that, in fact, Kevin Bacon is God. really is separated by six degrees.  Moreover, anyone is approximately six degrees away!

As a physicist, I think this is freakin awesome.  Even as a physics graduate student, I still might have a career at Google waiting for me in a few years!

While I’m all for keeping an open mind about scientific theories, I have to draw the line somewhere.  ”Flat-earthers” earn no respect from me.  They’re just silly.

Forget cats, iguanas, pigs, or whatever else you might want for a pet.  I want this.

I’m not sure how, or where, they would do this.  But, apparently, 125,000 Western lowland gorillas were hiding from us… until now.  While it’s cool that there’s so many more of them than we thought, I’m sure they would have preferred being undiscovered.
