O, teh interwebz!

Particle physics has always seemed like such a mess to me.  Think stamp-collecting, but where the stamps are the building blocks of nature, and there are more that haven’t been found than those that have.  

Though I’m currently in the used car market, I’m starting to think there may be better options….

I’m not ashamed to say that I’m really excited for this piece of reference to come out.  I will certainly be looking for it!

This is great.  I’d love to help out their cause by buying a non-petroleum vehicle… buuuuut, the grad student budget doesn’t lend itself to buying a Merc.

For the first time in history, we might see the North Pole lose its ice this year.  I don’t claim to be an arctic scientist, but this seems bad. 

I’m sure there many important science projects out there awaiting funding.  I’m pumped to see that decoding the Cocao genome is high on someone’s priority list.  

Thank goodness for the youngsters… saving all the old fogies from looking silly.

Well, you can probably guess how I’m going to spend the next few hours with the little iSight cam in my computer…  (hint).

This doesn’t really fit in with the “random” theme this site is used to.  However, I actually laughed out loud when I read this article, so I felt obliged to post it.  Uh, if I go out and spend $20,000,000 on something, why on earth would I ever expect someone else to help me pay it off?

This is a super cool idea.  Until, that is, everything is clean again.  Then we’ll have to have graffiti artists using dirt to tag stuff.  And the cycle will continue…

I find it pretty amusing that these scientists are from Mexico.  But, frankly, anytime you mix tequila and physics, productivity is bound to increase.  Right?

Let’s be honest, if you could live in a town with this name, wouldn’t you want to?

I’d be curious to see how my chosen field of study (physics) would change if we couldn’t count one, two, three, etc., and instead just had one, two, and many.

I didn’t have time to read all the way through the guy’s personal site, but holy crap.  If this makes sense (economically, politically, etc), it could be one of the coolest ideas since we decided not to live in trees…

This needs to happen everywhere and for the rest of time…

There’s a number of reasons why this story is funny… the nature of the story, the fact that it was on the BBC News front page, the picture of the woman working at the condom production line… But, the real reason I had to post this is that someday I want the title of “Prophylactic Prophet”
